In addition to our annual Valentine for Little Brother initiative, February is also a month to celebrate our grant from the Campaign for Black Male Achievement (CBMA)! The Open Society Foundation’s Campaign for Black Male Achievement has awarded EPIPHANY Inc. and Little Brother with funding toward developing our curriculum companion to the film series and supporting the Mapping Our Pledge to Little Brothers interactive online community.
“Epiphany, Inc. has been producing films for over a decade. CBMA funding will go towards their latest project, Little Brother, a series consisting of ten short films in which black boys are asked to share their thoughts about growing up as a young black male. The Little Brother project includes an interactive media project consisting of an educational outreach campaign and an online pledge program that interact with the ten short documentary films. The series explores the emotional lives of black boys through interviews that cover topics such as family dynamics, friendship, love and relationships. The curriculum component will be used to help black boys understand racial bias and how it affects self-perception and personal development.”
Our curriculum component will be available for publication at the end of this year. Many thanks to the Campaign and to OSF!
